At Mullin Family Ranch, ranching isn't just what we do, it's who we are.
Our family's ranching journey began in Tulameen, British Columbia, where Jim Mullin and his sons built a life centered around cattle, hard work, and a deep respect for the land. It was there that our passion for ranching took root and where countless memories were made.
As our family grew, so did our dreams. Eventually, we reached the point where we had outgrown what our ranch in Tulameen could offer. We knew that if we wanted to continue expanding our operation and create opportunities for future generations, we needed to think bigger.
In 2017, we made the difficult but exciting decision to move our operation to Logan Lake, British Columbia.
Leaving behind the place where so many family memories had been made wasn't easy, but we knew this property offered something special. With its rolling hills, open range, and incredible potential, it gave us the opportunity to build something that could support our family for generations to come.
Nearly a decade later, we still believe we've only scratched the surface of what this ranch can become. Every season brings new ideas, new projects, and new opportunities to improve both our land and our operation. Our vision has never been simply to raise cattle. It has always been to build something our children and grandchildren will be proud to carry forward.
Today, the ranch is proudly owned and operated by Jim and Pat Mullin and their sons, Cody and Mike. Together, they continue building on the legacy created by those who came before them, blending generations of experience with new ideas, modern farming practices, and an unwavering commitment to the land.
Every day begins with a morning meeting at the shop. It's our opportunity to check in, plan the day, solve problems together, and make sure everyone knows where they're needed. Some days are spent seeding, cutting hay, raking, baling, and hauling feed home. Other days are filled with fixing fences, checking cattle on the range, moving herds to fresh pasture, repairing equipment, or tackling whatever challenge Mother Nature throws our way.
Jim, or "Papa" as the grandkids know him, is still one of the hardest workers on the ranch. You'll often find him walking the fields picking sticks, cleaning up the land, or teaching the younger generation why even the smallest jobs matter. Whether he's showing the kids how to identify weeds that need pulling or sharing stories from decades spent ranching, he's constantly passing on the work ethic, knowledge, and values that have shaped our family.
Beside him is Nanny Pat, the heart of our family. While everyone has their own responsibilities around the ranch, Nanny makes sure the family stays connected. Her home is where stories are shared, laughter is constant, and traditions continue. The girls can often be found gathered around her table, listening to stories from years gone by, baking together, or simply spending time with one another. Those moments are every bit as important as the work done out in the fields because they remind us that family has always been the foundation of this ranch.
Jim and Pat are also proud parents of two other children, Ryan and Dana, whose love for ranching has never faded, even though life has taken them in different directions.
Ryan, his wife Lindy, and their daughters, Shelby, Chalee, and Summer, now call Colorado home. Ryan spent many years working on the ranch before his career led him elsewhere, but every visit back to Logan Lake finds him right back where he belongs, pitching in, lending a hand, and enjoying the ranch lifestyle that will always be part of who he is.
Their daughter Dana, her husband Scott, and their children, Jack, Haylee, and Olivia, live in Kentucky. Their family shares a passion for equestrian sports, spending countless hours with horses while embracing the same values of hard work, dedication, and respect for animals. Haylee is pursuing her dream of becoming a veterinarian, and we'd certainly welcome those skills back to the ranch one day. Although Ryan and Dana's families live many miles away, they'll always be a cherished part of the Mullin Family Ranch story.
Cody and his wife, Gina, are raising the next generation of ranchers while helping lead the business into the future.
If there's field work to be done, chances are you'll find Cody in the tractor. Whether he's seeding, cutting hay, raking, baling, hauling feed, or preparing fields for another season, he feels most at home with a day's work ahead of him. But his passion goes beyond operating equipment. When the workday is over, he's often researching regenerative farming practices, soil health, forage management, and better ways to improve our crops while working with nature instead of against it. He believes healthy soil is the foundation of a healthy ranch and is always looking for ways to leave the land healthier than he found it.
Gina plays a vital role behind the scenes, helping Jim manage the financial side of the ranch while coordinating beef sales, merchandise, marketing, and customer relationships. She loves connecting families with locally raised beef and sharing the story behind Mullin Family Ranch.
Jaiden, their oldenst son, now works full time on the ranch and has become an indispensable part of the operation. His mechanical abilities keep equipment running through the busiest seasons, and his willingness to tackle any challenge makes him someone everyone depends on. Whether he's repairing machinery in the shop, maintaining equipment, feeding cattle, or helping during hay season, his passion for ranching shines through in everything he does.
Second born son, Teghan, spends his summers working alongside the family before returning to pursue his dream of professional Hockey, entering his 4th year of playing junior hockey, now with the Cranbrook Bucks. Even while hockey takes him across the province, the ranch is always home, and he's quick to jump back into the work whenever he returns.
Ciena and Gia are still in school and, like many ranch kids, have learned from an early age that everyone contributes. Between school and hockey, they're always ready to lend a hand, whether that's checking cattle, feeding animals, helping prepare beef orders, or simply learning alongside the rest of the family.
Mike is happiest outdoors. You'll often find him horseback high on the range, checking cattle and making sure the herd is healthy and thriving. He has a true passion for working cattle and caring for the land they graze. When he's not in the saddle, chances are he's behind the controls of the excavator expanding fields, improving pastures, clearing fence lines, repairing drainage, or tackling projects that will benefit the ranch for years to come. His dedication, knowledge of the land, and quiet work ethic make him an invaluable part of the operation.
Mike's daughters, Aria and Piper, are also growing up immersed in ranch life. Along with their mom, Nicole, they remain an important part of the Mullin family. Together they're raising and caring for their goats, learning responsibility, patience, and the rewards that come from looking after animals. Although school and hockey keep the girls busy, they never miss an opportunity to help when they're home, and Nicole has always supported their love of ranch life and the values that come with it.
The four ranch cousins, Ciena, Gia, Aria, and Piper, are inseparable. Whether they're helping with chores, exploring the ranch, or simply making memories together, they're happiest when they're side by side. All four girls share one favourite part of ranch life: the Highland cows and their calves. You'll often find them visiting the Highlands, giving them treats, snapping countless photos, and proudly introducing them to anyone who comes to the ranch. Watching their love for the animals reminds us that the future of Mullin Family Ranch is already growing before our eyes.
Growing up on a ranch teaches lessons that can't be found in a classroom. It teaches responsibility, patience, resilience, teamwork, respect for animals, appreciation for the land, and the importance of caring for something bigger than yourself. Those are the values we hope each generation carries forward.
At Mullin Family Ranch, we raise Red Simm/Angus cattle using regenerative ranching practices that put the health of our animals and our land first. Our cattle are 100% grass fed and grass finished, never given growth hormones or routine antibiotics, and are raised naturally on pastures free from herbicides, pesticides, and synthetic fertilizers.
We believe healthy soil grows healthy grass. Healthy grass raises healthy cattle. Healthy cattle produce exceptional beef.
